Maryland Sheep & Wool-Here We Come!

There has been a great deal of work that has been done to get everything ready and packed for the trip to the Maryland Sheep and Wool. Kent & I will be driving and Daniella and Laura will fly out. We know that many of you will be there and we will be happily waiting to see you. We will be debuting the 3.00 mm (between US size 2 and US 3) double points.  We have a new higher front table so you all won’t get back strain. They found a chair for me but I look like Edith Ann from the old Saturday Night Live show so we have to replace before we leave.

Signature has the most interesting customers and we want to feature one of them— a man who knits and has a wonderful story to tell. We invited him to tell us about his life as a knitter with pictures of his projects. His name is Larry Davis. Please check it out while I go and pack some more we are off within the hour.

SocksKnitting Socks – I didn’t start knitting socks for a long time after I began to knit. I was teaching knitting and began to get a lot of requests for help with socks. So what was I supposed to do except teach myself.

Like may people, I suppose I was afraid of all those needles and the whole idea of knitting socks seemed silly.

I’ve made a lot of socks since then. Once I discovered how easy they are and how much fun they are. Not to mention how quickly they work up.

I tried a lot of different kinds of needles, in sets of four or five. I prefer five. I didn’t like the heavy metal needles that were available. Bamboo was my favorite for most things. That was before I got my Signature Needlearts double points.larry knitting

A friend gave me a set for my birthday. I had seen the straight single points but wasn’t tempted. And I might not have ever purchased the double points. But that gift has changed my life. These needles are so light, the points are smooth and slip easily into the stitches. They’re especially good for working decreases. I never worry about breaking them. The surface of the shank is just right for holding onto stitches while at the same time letting them move easily to to tip of the needle. People ask me if these needles are worth the price. Yes. Definitely. I’ll be getting more as the budget permits
