I am so old that I remember when you needed a radio to hear a radio show but all that is in the past. On Wednesday night I was pleased to be a guest on the Yarn Thing podcast. The host is a very friendly knitter and crocheter named Marley Bird
I wasn’t sure what she might want to know or ask so I had plenty of notes ready. I just knew that someone would ask me the mm conversion for a size 6 needle (.158) or what tolerance our needles are made to (1/6 of a human hair) so I had all those statistics. I also had jotted down some things about our most interesting customers, the funniest things that have happened to us at shows and the names of some of the people in the knitting world who have been helpful and kind to Signature.
Marley was very charming and I think we had a good “talk”. It seemed like she learned lots about us and was interested in some of the stories. Off the air she told me that some of the very same kind, helpful people I mentioned (Clara from Knitter’s Review, designer and teacher extraordinaire Annie Modesitt, and Sheri Berger from Loopy Ewe) had, unknown to me, sent Tweets to Marley regarding having us on the show.
Her call to me was to take place at 10pm—yes PM! Everyone who knows me understands that I “took one for the team” to be talkative at that time. Laura had it on at her house and son-in-law Brian looked at the clock and said, “That isn’t LIVE is it?”
While I waited I worked on a new sock which you can see in the picture. Now, this is not just ANY sock, but one which has been designed for us by the famous designer Anne Hanson from Knitspot. It is in the final stages of being ready. We have 2 fabulous special Signature colorways from Lorna’s Laces and a wonderful kit will be available soon.
This weekend is the 4th of July which is one of my favorite holidays. Kent and I are unabashedly patriotic and we have lots of friends and family coming to enjoy the day and ooh and ahh at the fireworks at night. Happy Birthday to the United States!
