• How do I know which circular needle length I will want?

Why would I want a 4" needle?
You have small hands OR you are working on small diameter projects such as socks.

Why would I want a 5" needle?
You have small or medium size hands, or this is the length you are used to in other needles you have and you are not uncomfortable.

Why would I want a 6" needle?
You have large hands, OR you would like to see what you have just knit clearly. For example if you are doing some lace work and want to see the pattern of the stitches you just did before they get scrunched up on the cable. REMEMBER: The larger length needles won't work if you have a small diameter project! For example if you are knitting a small sock you need a short needle length no matter what size your hands are. Return to Circular Needles.

  • Is it possible to monogram previously purchased circulars?

Unfortunately not - Due to the order in which the manufacturing process and monogramming need to take place, circulars that are already assembled cannot be monogrammed.

  • What will the monogram look like?

A photo example appears on the homepeage and you can use any laser marked Signature needle as a point of reference. The message or monogram will appear in white exactly as the laser marking on all of our needles appears with the mm/US Sizes.

  • How long can my monogrammed message be?

All monograms include up to 20 characters including spaces.

  • Can I return or exchange my monogrammed needles?

No, changes cannot be made once your order has been placed and monogrammed items cannot be returned except in the case of a manufacturing defect. You will be required to confirm spelling and content are correct with your final approval of the message before adding the needle to your cart.

  • Can I monogram any 20 characters on my needles?

Requests for monograms with profane or objectionable words or phrases will not be honored. We reserve the right to refuse any monogram submitted by a customer

  • Why do Signature Needles cost more than other commercially available needles?

Each needle is constructed from aircraft quality aluminum and each point is precision turned and hand polished allowing stitches to glide effortlessly. Our needles are made 100% in the United States and meet all state and federal environmental regulations. Our commitment to having the product made here in the United States ensures you will receive a safe high quality product. It also eliminates the concern of lead poisoning and improper waste disposal. We are also concerned with the treatment of workers in foreign factories.

  • Is Signature Needle Arts commited to environmentally responsible practices?

Signature Needle Arts is committed to being environmentally responsible by maintaining a clean and safe environment, both in our shop and throughout our manufacturing processes. Both anodizing and brite dip anodizing are permitted within the state of Wisconsin. Our facility is located within 8 miles of the Illinois border, and our anodizing supplier was selected not as a means to circumvent Wisconsin environmental laws, but rather to utilize the closest resources to our facility. This results in both lower costs to the consumer and the ability to maintain our commitment to environmentally friendly processes.

The brite dip process that is used on many aluminum components was selected for the needles in order to achieve a reflective finish that meets cosmetic standards. All of the chemistry used in this process must be neutralized to meet United States EPA regulations. In addition, our anodizer, confirms that all "products, materials, and substances used to anodize aluminum are fully compliant with the provisions contained in EU directive RoHS (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances 2002/95/EC (including permitted exceptions)."

Signature will continue its commitment to protecting the environment as a part of its business practice.

  • Can I customize the colors of my needles?

Needle colors are size specific. Because we have so many different options (length, size etc.) we have had to reduce the number of colors available to 5. If customers could choose a color we would have to manufacture and stock 12 single point needle sizes x 3 lengths x 3 tips x 3 caps= 324 choices x 5 colors = 1,620 different choices.

High volume orders can be quoted for custom colors. Please call or email for more information.

  • What colors are the needles?

  • Will you be offering additional cap designs?

Yes, we hope to offer new designs. If you have a suggestion please let us know.

  • Which point should I select?

The Stiletto point is our most popular. It has a long slope from the regular shaft diameter to the end of the point. The benefit to this point profile is that it is very fast and getting into even difficult stitches is easy. Doing something like a "knit 3 together through the back loop" iis done with no trouble. It is a favorite of lace knitters, and finding the next stitch in fuzzy yarns is also done easily.

The Middy point has a shorter (than Stiletto) point profile, that is, the distance from the regular shaft diameter to the end of the point. Very tight knitters find this profile gets the stitch up onto the needle diameter quickly which makes for better gauge.

The Blunt point profile has a point that is as it name implies - not sharp. Knitters who like the type of point that is found on many needles found in stores today will like this, however it is the choice of a small minority.
