Non-knitters need to understand that knitting needles are tools and trying to pick the exact tool for another person is difficult. Not knowing what project they are working on, or what they will be doing next makes a choice even harder. An example from another hobby such as car restoration would be to ask “what size and point screwdriver would be best?” Obviously, there is no BEST choice since each project might require a different tool.

Knitting is the same. The right tool for each project depends on so many things that the non-knitter might not know about such as: yarn weight, project size, gauge called for in the pattern, and the knitter’s own tension (how tight or loose they knit).

The good news is that a knitter can never have too many tools so whatever you pick will be used sooner or later. We offer more than 330 combinations in single point needles and double points so we have a needle for every project.

Do you know what the person usually knits most often?
Dishcloths
Baby or small children sweaters, hats etc
Scarves, hats
Good choices for these projects would be size 5, 6,
or 7 needle, Stiletto point and a 10" length
Adult sweaters
Baby blankets
Afghans
A good choice would be Size 6, 7, or 8 with a Stiletto
Point and a 14”length
Socks for adults
Double point needles are used and a 6” Stiletto
point in a Size 5 would be a good choice.
Socks for babies and children
Double point needles used here but a 4” or 5” Stiletto
point Size 3 would get a lot of use.

I don’t have a clue what they knit, just know they do knit. What should I get?
One of the middle sizes (6, 7, or 8) with a Stiletto point and a 10” length would be a choice that any knitter could use.

What if I guess wrong and they don’t like the size, length, cap I pick?
This is a very unlikely proposition, but needles can be returned and exchanged within 30 days with an additional shipping fee.

Can the gift recipient make a “wishlist”?
Yes they can. Just have them go to the site and make a list of what they would like and you can choose from that.
